Louisa Jussen died on 29 October 1872 at Chicago, Cook County, Illinois; The following article appeared in the Watertown Democrat on 7 Nov. 1872:
Death of a School Teacher - Miss Louisa Jussen died in Chicago on Saturday, the 29th of October, 1872, after a severe illness of only a week. This will be sad intelligence to her many friends her, where she was brought up, and where she was favorably known as a diligent and effective teacher, she having been connected with our Union Schools for several years. She was a young lady of fine talents, and had the advantage of speaking German and English with equal ease and fluency. All acquainted with her will regret that the career of one of so much promise and usefulness has been closed by death as unexpected as it seems untimely, in cases where the future appears as bright and attractive, as it always does in the morning of life. But a dark cloud has overshadowed her prospects, and the respected and admired teacher has withdrawn forever behind the impenetrable veil.1,2
